Stafford & Cannock PEARS OSCEs- 01/05/2015

Primary Eyecare (Shropshire & Staffordshire) Ltd (SAS PEC) will shortly be running a LOCSU MECS/PEARS Part B (OSCEs) assessment.  The event will take place on Sunday, 7th June, at Webb & Lucas Optometrists, 8 Bridge Street, STAFFORD, ST16 2HL.

Although the event is ostensibly for the purpose of accrediting optometrists to the Stafford & Cannock Primary Eyecare Assessment and Treatment Service (PEATS), optometrists from East and SE Staffordshire are strongly encouraged to attend also, given the possibility that a PEATS service may be commissioned in their area also.  The LOCSU MECS/PEARS qualification is a national accreditation that is transferable to other parts of the country, so it would be in your interests to attain it.

Staffordshire LOC will pay the assessment costs for all optometrists who wish to take part.  Don’t worry if you have yet to begin the WOPEC PEARS training, it’s not too late.  Please contact Alison at the LOC office who will provide you with a log-in to the WOPEC website’s distance learning material.  However, as soon as you have received your log-in details you had better get cracking, as you will not be allowed to attend the Part B practical assessments until you have successfully completed the Part A exercises!

I would ask you all please to attend the OSCEs on 7th June if you possibly can.  Whilst SAS PEC does intend to organise a second PEARS OSCEs event, I cannot say how far way this will be.  Since Stafford & Cannock PEATS is scheduled to go live on 1st July, and East/SE Staffs PEATS may not be far behind, it would be in our best interests to get as many optometrists accredited on 7th June as possible.

Thank you for your attention.  Once the candidate slots for the OSCEs become available for booking on the WOPEC website I will let you know.
